Tax Managing Director - Premier Wealth
Position Overview
The Managing Director position serves as the Practice Leader for the premier wealth tax practice, driving its development and growth within Bennett Thrasher.
Key Responsibilities
Client Relationship Management & Tax Compliance Oversight: Design and implement the overall strategy for the premier wealth tax practice, including service offerings, pricing models, and growth targets.
Team Leadership and Development: Help build and lead a dedicated team of tax professionals, with an emphasis on strategies that support continued growth in this service line.
Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and retention through personalized tax planning and compliance services aimed at building long-term wealth.
Tax Compliance Oversight: Oversee the preparation and review of complex tax returns for individuals, trusts, and related entities. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations while incorporating strategies to optimize tax outcomes for premier wealth clients engaged in wealth building.
Integration with Firm Resources: Collaborate with our ultra-high-net-worth practice to share best practices, tools, and insights, and create synergies that enhance service delivery across the firm.
Innovation and Process Improvement: Develop efficient workflows, leverage technology (e.g., tax software and automation tools), and stay abreast of evolving tax laws to keep the practice at the forefront of industry standards, particularly in areas supporting wealth accumulation.
Performance Metrics and Reporting: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs), monitor progress, and report on financial and operational results to firm partners.
Mentorship and Knowledge Sharing: Foster a culture of continuous learning by mentoring junior staff and contributing to firm-wide training programs on tax topics relevant to premier wealth clients focused on building wealth.
Qualifications and Requirements
Education and Certification: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA license required. Advanced degrees (e.g., Master’s in Taxation) or additional certifications (e.g., CFP, JD) are highly preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 8+ years in tax compliance and planning, with at least 5 years focused on high-net-worth individuals or similar client segments. Proven track record in building or leading a tax practice, with experience developing and leading teams.
Entrepreneurial Mindset: Possess a passion for building and creating new practices, with a history of successfully launching or scaling service offerings in a dynamic, growth-oriented environment.
Leadership Skills: Ability to lead, inspire, and develop teams, drive performance and foster collaboration. Experience scaling operations and managing projects from inception to execution.
Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of tax laws affecting high net worth clients, including income, estate, gift, and investment taxation strategies that support wealth building. Proficiency with tax preparation software such as Scan/Verify and familiarity with CRM systems.
Soft Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a client-centric mindset.
