Tax Manager - Private Wealth
About the Role
As a Tax Manager in our Private Wealth Tax practice, you will perform high-level reviews of tax research of individual, fiduciary, partnership, closely-held corporations, estate, and gift work papers and tax returns. You will prepare and lead client meetings on compliance and consulting projects related to tax planning opportunities and the tax implications of transactions. Additionally, you will train, mentor, and supervise new and experienced Tax Consultants and Tax Seniors, take on lead client-contact roles, and handle billing and profitability analysis on engagements. You will also be involved in marketplace eminence building and pursuits.
The Team
At Deloitte Tax LLP, our Private Wealth team focuses on the specialized needs of the ultra-affluent, including families with multigenerational wealth, entrepreneurs, family offices, and closely-held business owners. We provide comprehensive, independent, and objective wealth transfer planning advice, helping clients make strategic decisions relevant to their personal financial comfort, business and investment needs, family legacy, and charitable giving during their lifetime and through estate planning.
Responsibilities
- Perform high-level reviews of tax research and work papers for individual, fiduciary, partnership, closely-held corporations, estate, and gift tax returns
- Prepare and lead client meetings on compliance and consulting projects related to tax planning opportunities and transaction implications
- Train, mentor, and supervise Tax Consultants and Tax Seniors
- Take on lead client-contact roles and handle billing and profitability analysis for engagements
- Engage in marketplace eminence building and pursuits
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or other business-related field
- 5+ years of public accounting experience (at least 3 years in investment management)
- Experience reviewing partnership and/or trust documents
- Experience managing projects including scheduling, budgeting, client correspondence, and billing
- One of the following accreditations:
- Licensed CPA in state of practice/primary office (if eligible to sit for the CPA)
- Licensed attorney (if not CPA eligible)
- Enrolled Agent
- Chartered Financial Advisor (CFA)
- Certified Financial Planner (CFP)
- Ability to travel up to 25%, on average
- Ability to work within a hybrid model requiring in-person co-location 2-3 days per week
- Limited immigration sponsorship may be available
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree such as MST, MAcc, JD, or LLM
- Prior Big 4 or large CPA firm experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; strong listening, interpersonal, and facilitation skills
- Knowledge of fund accounting and general ledger accounting
Pay
The wage range for this role is $100,350 to $205,000. This range takes into account factors such as skill sets, experience, training, licensure, certifications, and business needs. Compensation decisions depend on individual and organizational performance. You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program.
