About the role

Managers in our Private Client Services (PCS) practice oversee multiple engagement teams for a wide range of sophisticated clients, including some of the wealthiest families in the US, family offices, owner-operated business entities, alternative investment fund principals, trusts, and estates.

  • Maintain communication with clients to ensure satisfaction, meet deadlines, and remain current on legislative changes.
  • Conduct primary and secondary review of complex tax returns – including federal and state filings.
  • Draft technical tax memoranda.
  • Assist with tax audits and notices, including preparation of responses for IDR requests.
  • Manage resources and coordinate scheduling needs with strong ownership and commitment to people and clients.
  • Supervise, train, mentor, and evaluate interns, associates, and senior associates.
  • Receive formal PCS and on-the-job training in daily interactions with top tax leaders to learn about legislative changes, wealth transfer techniques, charitable giving strategies, and buy/sell agreement planning.
  • Engage in business development activities such as preparing proposals, presenting in webinars, and collaborating with other service lines to present comprehensive tax strategies to prospective and current clients.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of relevant work experience in an accounting firm, with at least 3 years of Private Client experience.
  • Bachelor’s and/or advanced degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field (preferred).
  • Advanced credential allowing for IRS client representation (e.g., CPA or JD).
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills to enhance project management and client service.
  • Self-starter with the initiative to seek out opportunities and ability to work successfully in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Proficient use of tax software and relevant technology.

Pay

For individuals hired to work in San Diego, CA, the expected base salary range for this role is $132,000–$190,100. Actual compensation will be determined based on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, and skill set.
