Responsibilities

  • Advise on indirect tax regulatory changes and design strategies, operating models, processes, and compliance frameworks to improve efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities for tax optimization, credits, refund recovery, and exposure reduction; manage compliance, remediation, controversies, and corrective filings.
  • Support process reviews and technology transformation initiatives.
  • Translate regulatory changes into practical compliance and reporting solutions.
  • Implement operating models and frameworks across the indirect tax lifecycle.
  • Lead optimization, recovery, and exposure-reduction initiatives.
  • Lead workstream delivery, track status and deliverables, and participate in client working sessions.
  • Identify opportunities for additional services, contribute to RFPs, and manage engagement economics, resource plans, and budgets.
  • Guide teams, drive improvement, and recommend solutions by interpreting internal and external issues.
  • Develop solutions to complex problems and select suitable methods and criteria.
  • Recommend policy changes and establish procedures for your area or function.
  • Apply expertise to guide others toward quality solutions.
  • Demonstrate understanding of complex commercial real and personal property tax concepts and apply tax knowledge to client situations.
  • Travel regularly for external client engagements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years of relevant property tax consulting experience or equivalent experience in business or industry.
  • CPA or JD.
  • Broad exposure to state and local taxation.
  • Excellent managerial, organizational, analytical, and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel as needed and work in a balanced hybrid environment.
  • Experience with tax legislation and impact assessment, indirect tax refund and recovery review, tax planning and optimization, process improvement, and tax compliance and reporting requirements.

  • Identify and offer opportunities for tax planning and other special services.
  • Prepare quality, practical approaches to the client’s tax situation and arrive at appropriate conclusions.

Qualifications

Ideal candidates will also have:

  • Experience leading workstreams across planning, execution, and closure.
  • Contribution to RFP responses and sales growth.
  • Practical management of engagement economics and resource planning.
  • Daily participation in client working sessions and strong stakeholder management.
  • A proven record in a professional services environment.
  • Experience in coaching and mentoring junior colleagues.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

Pay

The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $105,100 to $192,600. The base salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State, and California (excluding Sacramento) is $126,100 to $218,900. Individual salaries are determined by factors including education, experience, knowledge, skills, and geography.

Schedule

Join our team-led and leader-enabled hybrid model. Most people in external, client-serving roles are expected to work together in person 60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project, or year.
