Tax Manager - Indirect Tax - Property Tax
About the role
The opportunity involves advising on indirect tax regulatory changes, designing strategies, operating models, processes, and compliance frameworks that raise efficiency and meet requirements. Responsibilities include identifying opportunities for tax optimization, credits and refund recovery, exposure reduction; managing strategies, compliance, remediation, controversies, and corrective filings. Supporting process review and technology transformation.
Responsibilities
- Translate regulatory changes into practical compliance and reporting solutions.
- Implement operating models and frameworks across the indirect tax lifecycle.
- Lead optimization, recovery, and exposure-reduction initiatives.
- Lead workstream delivery, track status and deliverables, and participate in client working sessions.
- Identify opportunities for additional services, contribute to RFPs, manage engagement economics, and implement resource plans and budgets.
- Guide teams, drive improvement, and recommend solutions by interpreting internal/external issues.
- Travel required regularly for external clients.
Requirements

- Understand complex commercial real and personal property tax concepts and effectively apply tax knowledge to client situations.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years of relevant property tax consulting experience or equivalent experience in business or industry.
- CPA or JD.
- Broad exposure to state and local taxation.
- Excellent managerial, organizational, analytical and verbal/written communication skills.
- Willingness to travel as needed, and working in a balanced hybrid environment.
- Tax legislation and impact assessment.
- Indirect tax refund and recovery review.

- Tax compliance and reporting requirements.

Pay
The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $105,100 to $192,600. The base salary range for New York City Metro Area, Washington State and California (excluding Sacramento) is $126,100 to $218,900. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography.
Schedule
Our expectation is for most people in external, client serving roles to work together in person 60% of the time over the course of an engagement, project or year.
