Tax Manager, High Net Worth

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage and review complex tax returns for high net worth individuals, closely held businesses and trusts.
  • Understand client’s business needs, identify and analyze tax issues, and clearly articulate relevant tax issues, application of authority, and conclusions.
  • Lead tax engagements from start to finish, including planning, budgeting and monitoring fees, execution, and delivery.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships by providing exceptional service and understanding their business needs.
  • Ensure timely and accurate filing of client tax returns, meeting all regulatory deadlines.
  • Review work performed by team members, providing constructive feedback to ensure quality and accuracy.
  • Show strong analytical skills and attention to detail, including the ability to interpret complex tax laws and regulations.
  • Show extensive knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations.
  • Show strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines simultaneously.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree and/or Master’s degree in Accounting.
  • Active CPA license required.
  • 5+ years of progressive public accounting experience, with a focus on HNW tax planning, compliance, and consulting.
  • Deep understanding of estate, gift, and trust tax laws and their application.
  • Expertise in IRC Sections 671-679 (Grantor Trust rules) and estate tax law principles.
  • Familiarity with family office services and private foundation structures.
  • Proven expertise in overseeing complex client engagements and delivering high-quality client service.
  • Proven ability to develop tax planning strategies for clients.
  • Proficiency in tax preparation software (e.g, CCH Axcess) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience supervising, training, developing, and reviewing the work of staff and senior associates - hybrid.

Qualifications

Our ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in public accounting, with a focus on high net worth tax planning, compliance, and consulting. They should have a deep understanding of estate, gift, and trust tax laws and their application, as well as familiarity with family office services and private foundation structures. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret complex tax laws are essential. The candidate should also demonstrate strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines simultaneously. Proficiency in tax preparation software and Microsoft Office Suite, as well as experience supervising, training, developing, and reviewing the work of staff and senior associates, is highly desirable.
