Tax Manager - Family Office
About the role
The RoleWe are seeking a Tax Manager to join our premier professional services firm. In this role, you will lead the implementation of complex tax projects and prioritize multiple work streams for ultra-affluent individuals and families, specifically highly entrepreneurial and tech-savvy wealth owners. Collaborating closely with other tax team members and partners, you will play a critical role in integrating our core tax solutions with our comprehensive family office services, including estate planning, philanthropy, risk management, and EMFR.
Key Responsibilities
- Engagement & Workflow Leadership: Assist in managing client engagement teams, directing daily workflows, and providing high-level compliance and consulting services.
- Advanced Tax Planning: Partner with the tax team and partner group to deliver sophisticated tax planning, custom entity structuring, and multifaceted wealth solutions.
- Practice Management: Assist in developing engagement budgets, determining resource requirements, and managing quarterly billing and annual retainers.
- Team Development: Train, motivate, and develop staff, senior, and supervisor-level professionals to foster an engaged, successful team.
- Operational Excellence: Oversee project delivery timelines to ensure precise execution of tax services that align with client goals.
Requirements
- Experience: 5+ years of full-time tax compliance experience focused on ultra-affluent individuals/families, partnerships, trusts, and not-for-profit entities.
- Credentials: Active CPA license or Enrolled Agent (EA) designation required.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting; Master's in Taxation is preferred.
- Technical Expertise: Experience with multi-state filing, foreign income reporting, gift/estate tax, and complex capital transactions-including equity compensation (stock options, restricted stock, and 10b5-1 plans).
- Software Proficiency: Deep familiarity with advanced tax technologies such as CCH Axcess Tax, BNA Income Tax Planner, Checkpoint RIA, and advanced MS Excel capabilities.
