Tax Manager, Core Tax Services

Tax Compliance

• Ensures clients comply with all applicable authorities while minimizing tax and reporting burdens.
• Involves specialists where appropriate during top-level review of tax issues and resolving them with clients.
• Communicates with clients and Assurance counterparts to manage tax accrual reviews, including planning, budgeting, and monitoring engagement process.
• Manages client relationships and expectations according to project needs.
• Timely billing and collection of accounts receivable.

Research

• Identifies when research is needed and clearly frames issues to be researched.
• Prepares WTA and tax returns in accordance with most Firm and professional standards.
• Applies ASC 740 (FAS 109 and FIN 48) and Firm policies, standards, and BDO TQM.
• Communicates with Assurance counterparts for timely tax accrual reviews, including budget, scope, and delivery dates.
• Utilizes and manages STS as needed.

Tax Consulting

• Aids in developing and implementing efficient and effective methods to maximize client benefits, especially by decreasing taxes.
• Develops and implements a work plan for ongoing projects, organizing STS assistance for clients.
• Serves as a technical resource and ensures client service teams comply with Firm policies.
• Provides effective assistance with exam support and frames projects and issues for effective delegation to seniors and associates.

Tax Specialization

• Develops in-depth understanding of technical and practical issues and opportunities regarding one or more areas of taxation.
• Organizes and conducts effective internal CPE training sessions in area of specialization, involving Firm specialists.

Strategy Development

• Introduces and develops new or improved ideas to improve client positions, the Firm, or Firm personnel.
• Reviews studies of tax implications and offers clients alternative courses of action.
• Identifies and leverages lessons learned on prior projects and offers input on improving processes and methods.
