Position Summary

A Tax Manager is a professional who prepares and reviews tax returns, accounting work papers, and financial reports, and guides and mentors other staff. This role requires working well with clients, earning their confidence, and demonstrating expertise in tax and audit standards.

Requirements

  • A current and valid CPA license required, with membership in good standing with the American Institute of CPAs and respective state societies.
  • 5-7 years’ experience in public accounting or relevant positions, with a progression in complexity, scope, and number of projects.
  • Special consideration may be given to waive the CPA license requirement in lieu of comparable experience and demonstrated expertise.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Maintain tax records and prepare tax returns, schedules, and reports.
  • Supervise and review the work of others.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of accounting and tax matters, and specialized industries or functional/technical areas.
  • Earn top quality client service through regular in-person and virtual communications.
  • Apply effective project management skills to plan and coordinate multiple engagements.
  • Participate in mentoring, training, recruiting, retention, and team-building activities.
  • Comply with firm policies and procedures.
  • Recognize and resolve complex technical issues, supporting conclusions with authority.
  • Accurately record time and expenses for proper billing of clients.
  • Anticipate potential problems and communicate effectively with clients.
  • Use established business networks to generate new sales opportunities.
  • Apply advanced technical knowledge effectively through both written and verbal communication.
  • Build and deepen knowledge of the firm’s industry lines and service offerings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Working Environment

The firm promotes a flexible work environment with a strong focus on technology and modern work arrangements. Offices are open from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday during tax season and close at noon on Fridays outside of tax season.
