Tax Manager [Commercial Real Estate Group]

This position is hybrid, requiring team members to be in the office on average 3 days a week, with the cadence determined at the team level.

Responsibilities

• Manage tax compliance and tax advisory engagements in the NYC Commercial Real Estate Industry group
• Determine resource requirements and work with a team to ensure exceptional client service
• Manage expectations with team members and monitor engagement progress
• Lead the review of partnership heavy compliance (1065/K-1s) and related corporate filings, managing complexity across real estate structures and state filings
• Research tax issues and filing requirements affecting tax compliance
• Research complex tax issues using internal revenue code, treasury regulations, and other relevant authorities/guidance
• Draft tax technical memorandums and share knowledge to develop team members
• Identify opportunities to expand the scope of current engagements through client needs and target client requirements
• Actively participate in proposal development and take a lead role responding to requests for proposal
• Demonstrate initiative, vision, resourcefulness, creativity, and independent thinking
• Lead by example

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s in Accounting/Taxation preferred
• CPA, JD, or EA required
• Minimum of 6 years of relevant tax experience
• 2+ years of managerial experience
• Current experience with commercial real estate clients including real estate, private equity, and joint ventures
• REIT experience is helpful but not required
• Strong tax research skills
• Excellent communication and presentation (verbal and written) skills, as well as exceptional client service skills
• Proven competence with MS Office and tax compliance and research software, including ProSystem, CCH Axcess, and CCH Engagement
• Solid project management and organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to multi-task

Pay

In New York City, the salary range for this role is $110,000 - $175,000. Salary determination will vary based on factors such as geographical location, qualifications, experience, skills, and competencies. The total rewards package also includes a discretionary performance bonus.
