Tax Manager

Job Summary

As a Tax Manager, you will oversee and review financial information for clients, such as business and individual tax returns, while gaining exposure to a diverse client base operating in various industries. You will also manage client relationships, staff, and leaders to ensure high-quality work is delivered to clients.

Job Description

• Tax Strategy and Engagement Oversight
• Develop and implement comprehensive tax planning strategies for clients
• Ensure alignment with financial objectives and minimize tax liabilities
• Manage a portfolio of tax engagements, supervise tax staff, and review their work for accuracy, compliance, and adherence to firm standards
• Maintain engagement progress, budgets, and timelines to meet client expectations
• Coordinate and complete tax research efforts to address client inquiries and resolve complex tax issues
• Research and Analysis
• Stay informed about evolving tax laws, regulations, and industry developments
• Apply knowledge to client engagements and internal training initiatives
• Client Communication
• Communicate complex tax concepts and strategies to clients
• Tailor explanations to clients' understanding and address their questions or concerns
• Prepare and deliver presentations on tax-related matters
• Compliance and Documentation
• Review and oversee the preparation of tax returns for accuracy and compliance with regulations
• Avoid penalties and ensure timely submissions by managing tax filing deadlines, extensions, and other compliance requirements
• Stay current with federal, state, and local tax laws, regulations, and changes
• Team Collaboration
• Collaborate with other tax professionals within the firm
• Share insights, knowledge, and best practices
• Mentor and train tax staff to foster their professional growth
• Promote knowledge sharing and effective communication among team members
• Participate in internal training sessions to enhance technical skills and stay updated on industry trends
• Process Improvement and Innovation
• Identify opportunities to enhance tax workflows, processes, and methodologies
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of the firm's tax services
• Ensure compliance with internal quality control procedures, including reviewing and approving tax filings, documentation, and client deliverables
• Strategic Business Development
• Collaborate with partners and senior management to identify business development opportunities
• Cultivate client leads and contribute to the firm's growth strategy
• Participate in proposal development and presentations to prospective clients
• Supervisory Responsibilities
• Supervise subordinate team members

Physical Demands

• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and performing work in front of a computer screen for long periods of time
• Must be able to lift to 15 pounds at a time

Travel

• Frequent and unpredictable travel may be required

Work Environment

• Professional office environment with minimal distractions
