About the Role

We are seeking a Tax Manager to join our team. This position requires strong technical and communication skills to coordinate with staff, managers, and clients, ensuring timely and quality delivery of both simple and complex tax projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong tax background and the ability to execute tax strategies. This is an opportunity to significantly expand your knowledge of tax and its application.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and perform tax compliance activities for individuals and businesses, including preparation and review of Federal and State income tax returns.
• Handle tax planning and projections, tax research, resolution, and correspondence.
• Manage client information requests and deliverables.
• Ensure accurate, timely filing of federal, state, and local tax returns while maintaining quality standards.
• Provide support on special tax projects and initiatives.
• Collaborate with staff, clients, and management.
• Assist with firm initiatives as necessary.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• 8+ years of relevant work experience in public accounting.
• Acquired or working toward CPA or EA preferred.
• Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Knowledge of federal and state tax regulations.
• Strong computer skills with proficiency in a wide variety of applications; Thomson Reuters software experience is a plus.
• Proficiency in UltraTax or other tax software, QuickBooks, and other accounting software.
• Research-oriented with problem-solving skills.
• Superior attention to detail with strong organizational, analytical, and planning skills.
• Positive attitude and ability to work collaboratively with teams at various levels.
• Flexibility in dealing with change, managing multiple priorities and projects, and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Schedule

• 8-hour shift during non-busy season.
• 55-65 hour week during busy season.
• Monday to Friday, with weekends as needed.
• Comp time can be used for Fridays off in the summer.

Location

Virginia Beach, VA 23452. Reliable commute or willingness to relocate is required. Mandatory in-office training period with remote flexibility as you grow within the firm.
