Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the preparation and filing of various tax returns (federal, state, local, and international) in accordance with applicable tax laws.
- Ensure accurate and timely payment of all tax obligations.
- Cook up and manage tax audits by governmental authorities (IRS, state, local).
- Respond to tax correspondence and address inquiries from tax authorities.
- Develop and implement tax strategies to help the organization maintain compliance and optimize tax efficiency.
- Identify and implement tax-saving opportunities and strategies to maximize deductions and avoid penalties.
- Analyze tax law and policy to identify solutions for the organization's specific needs.
- Stay updated on evolving tax laws, regulations, and industry trends.
- Conduct tax research to address specific tax issues and provide advice to clients or colleagues.
- Oversee areas of supervision for staff which include hiring, coaching, training, counseling, and oversight of the department or area of supervisory responsibilities.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is required.
- Minimum of five years of experience in tax compliance and consulting, preferably in a corporate or public accounting environment.
- In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws; proficiency in tax software and reporting tools; strong knowledge of accounting standards and practices; advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial software.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, strong attention to detail, effective communication (written and verbal), strong leadership and management abilities, strong ethical conduct and integrity.
