Tax Manager
Overview
CMMS CPAs & Advisors PLLC, an ATLAS Navigators Firm, seeks an experienced Tax Manager to join our Plainview team! The Tax Manager will serve as a trusted advisor to clients while also leading internal team members and helping shape the future of our practice. Major Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary relationship manager for assigned clients, providing strategic guidance and ensuring exceptional customer service;
- Oversee the preparation and review of a wide range of tax returns including 1040, 1120, and 1065;
- Lead client engagements, manage workflow priorities, and oversee the allocation of work across team members;
- Develop and maintain trusted client relationships while identifying proactive tax planning, estate planning, and advisory opportunities;
- Review accounting activities and financial information for assigned clients to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance;
- Provide technical guidance and collaborate with team members on complex tax and accounting matters;
- Identify opportunities to expand client services and communicate recommendations, updates, and strategic insights effectively;
- Monitor engagement profitability through billing oversight, WIP management, and effective project execution;
- Coach, mentor, and develop team members while driving process improvement and operational efficiency;
- Contribute to the growth of the firm's advisory services, strategic initiatives, and overall practice development.
Educational and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field;
- Demonstrated progressive public accounting experience with increasing responsibility in tax preparation, tax review, client management, and staff development;
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a Tax Manager or equivalent leadership role within a public accounting firm;
- Experience with CCH Axcess and QuickBooks preferred;
- CPA license, CPA eligibility, or active pursuit of CPA licensure preferred.

Working Conditions
Must be able to operate a variety of machines and equipment, including computers, office equipment, telephones, etc. Tasks may require extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation. Required to occasionally lift, hold, or carry items weighing up to 40 pounds. Individuals must perform the principal duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation.
