Tax Manager – 1120
About the role
As a Tax Manager – 1120, you will provide our clients solutions to ensure appropriate reporting in accordance with ASC 740, as well as work with other specialists dedicated to accounting for income tax. You will work closely with clients’ accounting departments to ensure proper reporting under U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and/or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
In this role, you will prepare and lead client meetings on compliance and consulting projects related to tax planning opportunities and tax implications. You will maintain relationships with a diverse client base across various industries and assist firm leadership in identifying new opportunities and obtaining new engagements.

Responsibilities
- Maintain and develop strong client relationships on tax consulting and compliance engagements.
- Manage engagement workflow, team resources, and billing.
- Work as part of a coordinated client service team, collaborating with other practice units to provide industry knowledge and insight.
- Review engagement profitability and analyze monthly billing for assigned engagements.
- Review tax returns prepared by staff and recommend accuracy and tax savings opportunities.
- Research and analyze a wide range of tax issues and implications.
- Demonstrate strong analytical skills and working knowledge of accounting and tax software.
- Provide leadership, counseling, and career guidance for the engagement team.
- Represent the firm by attending fundraisers, meetings with prospects, charitable events, and professional organizations.
- Work on internal initiatives that promote firm growth, culture, technical tax content development, and technological advances.
- Stay informed of current and proposed tax legislation, communicating potential impacts to clients and assisting with planning.
Requirements
- CPA, J.D., LL.M, or Masters in Taxation.
- Minimum of five years of public accounting experience providing tax planning services and/or preparing and reviewing client work papers and income tax returns.
- Demonstrated experience with federal corporate tax returns (1120s), tax provision preparation, and/or ASC 740 income tax accounting.
- Ability to develop business and foster client relationships.
- Strong leadership, training, and mentoring skills.
- Excellent writing, communication, and tax research skills.
