About the role

This internship offers the opportunity to perform tax-related tasks for a variety of clients across different industries, including multistate and multinational enterprises such as partnerships, corporations, and S-corporations. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, build capabilities in key technologies, and sustain excellent client relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Perform tax-related tasks, including compliance, advising, and planning for clients in different industries, multistate and/or multinational enterprises (partnerships, corporations, and S-corporations).
  • Participate in data analytics assignments using KPMG technology, create tax return work papers and tax returns for clients, and coordinate offshore resources.
  • Perform tax due diligence to identify tax exposures and opportunities.
  • Assist multi-state companies with state and local tax issues, including compliance, advising, planning, and controversies.
  • Advise multinational enterprises on business decisions such as location and operation choices, entity selection, supply chain optimization, and capital access and mobilization to fund global operations.
  • Support tax planning decisions, helping clients anticipate and understand short- and long-term considerations while evaluating multinational tax risk profiles, global effective tax rates, and cash posture.
  • Build capabilities in key technologies that enable tax professionals for client service delivery, such as artificial intelligence (AI), Alteryx, Power BI, and more.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in business, accounting, finance, taxation, mathematics, economics, information technology, data and analytics, engineering (financial, industrial, or systems), or an equivalent program.
  • Preferred degrees and/or areas of study: Accounting and Taxation.
  • Pursuing educational requirements for CPA licensure in the principal place of business (the state in which the office is located) for this position (completion of academic credits required prior to starting as a Tax Associate).
  • Upon completion of this internship, candidates must have additional academic credits to complete before obtaining their degree and/or CPA eligibility requirements.
  • Preferred GPA of 3.0 or above.
  • Coursework or minor in information systems, software engineering, computer science, or data and analytics preferred.
  • Must reside within a reasonably commutable distance to the office for this position and be able to travel to reasonably commutable work locations using a personal vehicle or public transportation.
  • Ability to travel and/or work on-site at client premises as needed, at times with relatively short notice.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship now or in the future (no sponsorship is available for H-1B, L-1, TN, O-1, E-3, H-1B1, F-1, J-1, OPT, CPT, or any other employment-based visa).
