Responsibilities
- Perform tax-related tasks, including compliance, advising, and planning for a variety of clients across different industries, multistate and/or multinational enterprises (partnerships, corporations, and S-corporations).
- Participate in data analytics assignments using KPMG technology, create tax return work papers and tax returns for clients, and coordinate offshore resources.
- Perform tax due diligence to identify tax exposures and opportunities.
- Assist multi-state companies with state and local tax issues, including compliance, advising, planning, and controversies.
- Advise multinational enterprises on business decisions such as location and operation choices, entity selection, supply chain optimization, and capital access and mobilization, as well as tax planning decisions considering multinational tax risk profiles, global effective tax rates, and cash posture.
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team on assignments and sustain excellent client relationships.
- Build capabilities in key technologies enabling tax professionals for client service delivery, including artificial intelligence (AI), Alteryx, Power BI, and more.
Qualifications
- Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in business, accounting, finance, taxation, mathematics, economics, information technology, data and analytics, engineering (financial, industrial, or systems), or an equivalent program.
- Preferred degrees and/or areas of study: Accounting and Taxation.
- Pursuing educational requirements for CPA licensure in the principal place of business (the state in which the office is located) for this position, with completion of required academic credits prior to starting as a Tax Associate.
- Upon completion of this internship, candidates must have additional academic credits to complete before obtaining their degree and/or CPA eligibility requirements.
- Preferred GPA of 3.0 or above.
- Coursework or minor in information systems, software engineering, computer science, or data and analytics preferred.
- Strong technical, business acumen, critical thinking, and agility skills; demonstrated ability to excel and drive strategic outcomes in a dynamic environment.
- Demonstrated quality service mindset, strong technical aptitude, and ability to learn and navigate technologies such as AI, Alteryx, Power BI, MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook), and apply emerging technologies to enhance tax processes and insights.
- Excellent communication, time management, leadership skills, feedback orientation, and resourcefulness in delivering high-quality work.
- Must reside within a reasonably commutable distance to the office and be able to travel to commutable work locations using a personal vehicle or public transportation.
- Ability to travel and/or work on-site at client premises as needed, sometimes with short notice.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship now or in the future (no sponsorship available for H-1B, L-1, TN, O-1, E-3, H-1B1, F-1, J-1, OPT, CPT, or any other employment-based visa).
