Tax Experienced Manager, Tax Automation & Innovation

About the role

The Tax Automation & Innovation (Tax AI) Experienced Manager plays a key role in the firm's Tax Automation & Innovation team. This position involves applying industry knowledge and experience to collaborate with clients and team members to implement tax automation tools. Responsibilities include marketing, networking, and business development, as well as assessing and optimizing client tax departments.

Responsibilities

• Qualifies viability of prospective clients or projects and identifies opportunities to expand current business
• Understands the full picture of a client’s tax function and develops unique strategies aligned with business objectives
• Leads planning or project delivery meetings that may include proposal delivery and solutions workshops or training
• Directs staff accordingly, as applicable
• Aids in managing client expectations and requirements
• Gathers client requirements, estimates fees, and prepares high-level scoping and proposed solutions for client proposals
• Identifies opportunities to streamline internal standards and processes for the practice
• Communicates complex technical items to target audience so that relevant issues are clearly understood
• Demonstrates advanced project and process management skills; effectively manages multiple large-scale, complex projects at once
• Gains exposure to setting strategy, establishing methodology, and determining the appropriate work plan for a given client by working with Tax AI leadership
• Executes standard project setup procedures, tracks billing and basic project economic management, including delivering project on time and within budget by utilizing project management and client service skills
• Collaborates with project teams and client to understand the big picture when developing and implementing projects
• Constructs a comprehensive quantitative and qualitative business case for client to justify the investment and commitment of management time coupled with financial and human resources
• Manages Tax AI staff in completion of projects

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree required; emphasis in Accounting, Finance, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or Technology, preferred
• Graduate degree, preferred
• Six (6) or more years of experience with technology or tax systems
• Experience with ASC 740 tax accounting, consulting, or income tax compliance
• Leadership experience, preferred
• Certification in one or more of the following technologies: Corptax, Longview, Orbitax, OneStream, Thomson Reuters, Alteryx, or Microsoft Power Apps
• CPA certification, preferred
• Software proficiency in Microsoft Excel required; advanced Microsoft Excel skills, preferred
• Experience with one or ideally multiple of the below software / tools: Systems such as Bloomberg, Corptax, Longview, OneStream, Oracle or Thomson Reuters; RPA tools (UiPath, Power Automate, etc.); ETL tools (Alteryx, Power Query, Power Pivot, Tableau Prep, etc.); Visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.)

• An advanced knowledge and skill level in engagement management including project management skills and administrative tasks
• Ability to complete projects independently
• Experience preparing and conducting presentations to clients and potential clients
• Ability to travel 10-25% of the time
