Tax Director - Family Office
About the role
We are seeking a Director of Tax to serve as the senior-most tax practice leader in our firm. In this high-impact role, you will oversee a team of highly skilled professionals across all tax functions, reporting directly to the firm Partners.
Responsibilities
Lead the tax compliance management process, direct workflows, develop engagement budgets, and oversee quarterly billing and annual client retainers to ensure practice profitability.
Work closely with the partner group to provide advanced tax planning, complex entity structuring, and multifaceted solutions for ultra-high-net-worth individuals, partnerships, trusts, and non-profits.
Collaborate with firm leadership to intelligently integrate tax strategies with our other core family office services, including estate planning, philanthropy, risk management, insurance, and EMFR.
Serve as the chief point of contact for managing tax audits and handling complex inquiries from federal, state, and local tax authorities.
Train, motivate, mentor, and develop the firm's tax professionals while actively participating in senior-level recruiting efforts to build a strong leadership pipeline.
Requirements
15+ years of full-time tax compliance and consulting experience specifically tailored to ultra-affluent individuals/families, complex partnerships, trusts, and not-for-profit entities.
Credentials: Active CPA license or Enrolled Agent (EA) designation required.
Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting; Master's in Taxation is highly preferred.
Technical Expertise: Proven experience handling multi-state filing, foreign income reporting, gift/estate tax matters, and complex capital transactions including equity compensation (stock options, restricted stock, and 10b5-1 plans).
Software Proficiency: High proficiency in advanced tax technologies such as CCH Axcess Tax, BNA Income Tax Planner, Checkpoint RIA, and advanced MS Excel.
Qualifications
Adept emotional intelligence, excellent analytical problem-solving abilities, and a strong desire to serve, lead, and grow within a premier family office environment.

Proven experience in tax compliance and consulting tailored to ultra-affluent individuals/families, complex partnerships, trusts, and not-for-profit entities.
Advanced knowledge of tax laws and regulations, particularly those affecting ultra-high-net-worth individuals and families.

Pay
$190,000 - $220,000 Base + Individual & Team Bonuses
