About the role
This position is responsible for tax compliance, internal controls development, and regional implementation for the Americas. The role oversees the tax departments of Purem MX, Purem BRA, and Purem Argentina, as well as cross-divisional tax departments for Climate Bus (Canada, US, and MX). It also supports Group Tax in global Americas tax topics such as fiscal year-end reporting, tax accounting, and tax planning.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement internal control best practices for the Americas operations for tax matters.
- Maintain relationships and deliverables with external tax consulting service provider(s).
- Ensure tax compliance for the Americas operations.
- Prepare assigned US federal, state, and local income tax returns, sales and use, and other business tax returns.
- Maintain tax accounting records, effective tax rates, and respond to audit documentation requests.
- Prepare and oversee tax-related reports for financial, regulatory, and other purposes.
- Prepare and review tax depreciation reports and other activities associated with the assimilation of fixed asset data for tax return preparations.
- Participate in the calculation of quarterly estimated tax payments.
- Monitor and design material and transactional flows to ensure duty and tax efficiency.
- Ensure international goods transactions are designed and executed in compliance with applicable international trade regulations and specific trade agreements.
- Ensure internal compliance with tax procedures across various departments: purchasing, logistics, accounting, and compliance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or Master’s in Accounting, Finance, or Taxation.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience working for a manufacturing supplier, preferably automotive.
- 5 years of professional experience in Public and/or Industry accounting.
- Certified Public Accountant with experience in automotive manufacturing.
- Demonstrated knowledge in US GAAP, IFRS, Internal Controls management, and U.S. tax compliance in an international manufacturing corporate environment.
- Ability to travel domestically by car or plane.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and SAP.
