Tax Director
Position Summary
The Director of Tax will lead the firm, overseeing all tax compliance, planning, and advisory services for our sophisticated client base. This role requires deep technical expertise, leadership capability, and the ability to scale a high-performing tax team. The Director of Tax will work closely with the COO and CEO to optimize tax workflows, drive revenue growth, and ensure exceptional client delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage all tax engagements for individuals, partnerships, corporations, and high-net-worth clients.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
Provide strategic tax planning, including entity selection, compensation planning, and tax-efficient business strategies.
Supervise, mentor, and develop tax staff, building a high-performing, scalable team.
Collaborate with accounting, audit, and advisory teams to deliver integrated client solutions.
Develop and maintain workflows, KPIs, and dashboards for the tax function.
Maintain rigorous quality control and review standards, ensuring work is audit-ready and error-free.
Stay current with legislative and regulatory changes, advising leadership and clients on impacts.
Contribute to revenue growth, identifying opportunities for new tax services and value-added offerings.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Holds a CPA designation (required) and a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Taxation (Master’s preferred).
Has 8+ years of professional tax experience, including corporate, partnership, and individual tax.
Demonstrates deep technical expertise in GAAP, accrual accounting, and complex tax planning.
Possesses strong leadership and people management skills, with experience mentoring and developing teams.
Has proven client-facing experience with CEOs, business owners, and executives.
Is strategically minded, able to contribute to firm growth, workflow optimization, and revenue expansion.
