About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Americas Tax Leader to oversee tax compliance, tax risk management, and tax planning across the Americas region (e.g., U.S., Canada, LATAM, etc.). This role reports directly to the Global International Head of Tax and collaborates closely with Finance, Legal, and Business teams to ensure tax efficiency, compliance, and strong business alignment in the region.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the Americas regional tax strategy, ensuring compliance, optimizing tax positions, and aligning with global objectives.
  • Oversee all aspects of regional tax operations, including direct and indirect taxes, tax audits, and effective implementation of headquarters’ tax policies and risk controls.
  • Monitor and assess changes in tax laws and regulations (e.g., DST, VAT/GST), evaluate business impacts, and recommend proactive responses.
  • Act as a tax business partner, collaborating with cross-functional teams and business units across jurisdictions to provide practical, timely tax advice and support for new business initiatives and ongoing operations.
  • Support M&A, business restructurings, and market expansions through tax due diligence, structuring, and risk mitigation, while managing relationships with external advisors and tax authorities.
  • Drive operational excellence by standardizing tax processes, leveraging technology, strengthening internal controls, and leading the regional tax team’s development and cross-functional business partnership.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or above in Taxation, Law, Accounting, Finance, or a related field; over 5 years of progressive tax experience, including at least 5 years leading regional or multi-country teams.
  • Strong technical knowledge of US tax laws is required, along with familiarity with international tax frameworks (e.g., OECD BEPS initiatives, Pillar Two regulations, Global Minimum Tax).
  • Proven expertise in managing complex cross-border service transactions, intangible asset tax planning, and digital economy-related tax compliance.
  • Exceptional soft skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, persuasively, and effectively across all internal and external stakeholders, including business teams, finance, legal, and senior leadership.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, dynamic, and multicultural environment with high levels of ambiguity and change.
  • High levels of written and oral fluency in Mandarin are required for this role. Collaboration with China-based stakeholders is necessary to ensure local financial strategy aligns seamlessly with group objectives, manage core financial systems, and safeguard capital allocation through cross-border contract review.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing tax operations within technology or digital service industries.
  • Working knowledge of Canadian and LATAM tax regimes.
  • Prior experience in multinational corporations and/or Big Four accounting firms is highly desirable.
