About us
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Permanent Tax Controversy Attorney to join our prestigious legal team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on complex and high-stake tax disputes, IRS audits, and appeals. The successful candidate will manage all aspects of tax controversy matters, including dealing with the IRS, Office of Appeals, and Tax Court.
Responsibilities
- Manage and resolve complex tax controversies, including IRS audits, administrative appeals, collection due process (CDP), and state and local tax (SALT) disputes.
- Represent clients before the IRS, Office of Appeals, Tax Court, and other federal and state tax authorities.
- Negotiate Offers in Compromise and other settlement agreements with the IRS and state tax agencies.
- Counsel clients on FATCA, FBAR, and voluntary disclosure matters.
- Advise on criminal tax matters, including defense strategies and plea negotiations.
- Develop and implement effective tax controversy strategies to minimize tax liability and penalties.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in tax laws and regulations that may affect clients and their businesses.
- Collaborate with other attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to ensure the best representation of our clients.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to State Bar and admission to practice before the U.S. Tax Court.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Tax Controversy Attorney, Associate, Counsel, or Partner.
- Proven track record in handling tax disputes, IRS audits, appeals, federal tax litigation, and criminal tax matters.
- Extensive knowledge of IRS procedures, including penalty abatement, levy, lien, trust fund recovery penalty, and offer in compromise.
- Familiarity with FBAR, FATCA, and voluntary disclosure regulations.
- Strong negotiation and advocacy skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
