  • Two (2) years or more of experience as a Tax Examiner II or Tax Analyst I or higher, with the State Of Vermont Department Of Taxes

  • Education or training in taxation, accounting or auditing
  • Experience in a government audit role

The Compliance Division is responsible for promoting and ensuring Vermont taxpayer compliance, with a focus on early intervention, education, outreach, and fairness. Pay

The hourly salary rate for this position ranges from $26.50 to $41.37, with an annualized salary range of approximately $55,120 to $86,049.60. The starting salary may be negotiable depending on experience and qualifications.

Schedule

Work is performed in a standard office setting. An Auditor I may be sitting or standing, most frequently using computer and phone. There may be very occasional light lifting, and general walking around the office setting.

  • Candidates must agree to be fingerprinted and pass a background check to be eligible for this position, which will involve access to sensitive federal tax information. Background checks are required by the Internal Revenue Service and are authorized under Vermont law. Vermont and national criminal record checks will be conducted on all candidates.
