About the role
As a Tax Associate, you will become familiar with current tax theories and laws and perform procedures in accordance with firm standards in an accurate, thorough, and timely manner. This position is hybrid, with team members encouraged to be in the office on average 3 days a week for in-person collaboration.
Responsibilities
- Prepare tax returns, including Individuals, Partnerships, and Corporate tax returns.
- Identify potential tax issues and prepare tax adjusting entries and tax trial balances based on audited or client-provided trial balances.
- Research filing requirements and tax issues using the Internal Revenue Code, Treasury regulations, and other relevant authorities/guidance.
- Manage daily client workflow and multiple client projects at any given time.
- Draft tax technical memorandums.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Accounting.
- Plan to complete 150 credit hours to be CPA licensed.
- Minimum GPA of 3.2 in both your major and overall.
- Leadership positions in extracurricular activities preferred.
- Prior work or internship experience (accounting experience is a plus).
- Excellent communication skills and sharp critical thinking.
- Comfortable navigating fast-paced environments and embracing change.
- Advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint; eager to learn new technologies.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
Pay
In Illinois, the salary for a Tax Associate is $79,000. Salary is one component of the CohnReznick total rewards package, which includes a discretionary performance bonus, generous paid time off, expanded parental benefits, and access to best-in-class learning and development platforms.
