Role Summary
The Tax Associate will support a transactional tax practice focused on advising clients across M&A, financing transactions, partnership taxation, cross-border matters, and renewable energy–related tax issues. The role involves complex tax structuring, planning, and advisory work, including state and federal incentive eligibility assessments.
Core Responsibilities
- Advises clients on tax aspects of M&A transactions, financing transactions, and portfolio investments
- Designs and implements tax-efficient structures for joint ventures and corporate transactions
- Provides state tax planning advice
- Supports renewable energy project structuring and incentive eligibility analysis
- Conducts legal research and drafts memoranda, briefs, and client alerts
- Participates in client meetings and collaborates closely with team members
Must-Have Qualifications
- Cover Letter Required
- JD or LLM from an ABA-accredited law school
- Must be admitted or eligible for admission in New York
- 3+ years of transactional tax experience (corporate & partnership) within a law firm environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong academic credentials and ability to analyze complex tax issues
- High professionalism, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior accounting firm experience
- Experience with clean energy or renewable energy tax matters
- Experience advising on fund formation, capital markets, or joint venture taxation
- Ability to balance multiple matters simultaneously and work independently
