Tax Associate
About the role
Husch Blackwell LLP is seeking a Tax Associate with at least four years of experience, preferably in Austin, Kansas City, Milwaukee, St. Louis, or Washington, D.C. The ideal candidate will have experience in complex federal transactional tax matters with both non-profit and for-profit clients, including business entity formations, mergers, acquisitions, and reorganizations. State and local tax matters, including income, franchise, sales, and use tax, are also preferred.
Responsibilities
- Advising clients on a wide range of complex federal transactional tax matters
- Participating in business entity formations, mergers, acquisitions, and reorganizations
- Providing guidance on state and local tax matters, including income, franchise, sales, and use tax
- Collaborating with colleagues to develop and implement tax strategies
- Preparing and reviewing tax documents and reports
- Assisting in the preparation of tax returns and other tax-related filings
Requirements
- Active bar license in the state corresponding with the office to which you are applying, or commitment to obtain one as soon as possible
- Experience in complex federal transactional tax matters with both non-profit and for-profit clients
- Experience in state and local tax matters, including income, franchise, sales, and use tax
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Qualifications
- Law degree from an accredited law school
- Minimum of four years of relevant experience

- Strong legal research and writing skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
- Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines

Pay
The compensation range for this position varies based on location and is as follows:
- New York, Vermont, and Washington, D.C.: $235,000 - $318,000
- California, Colorado, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and Washington: $230,000 – $315,000
- Illinois: $215,000 - $315,000
- Minnesotta: $215,000 - $285,000
