Primary Accountabilities
The Tax Associate will prepare tax returns for individuals, businesses including partnerships and corporations, under the guidance of a certified public accountant. The Tax Associate may also assist with various administrative tasks related to tax work.
Major Duties
- Prepares tax returns, necessary paperwork, reports, and verifies returns.
- Affirms and researches tax issues to identify solutions.
- Evaluates tax regulations, as they apply to clients.
- Monitors industry trends and changes related to tax laws.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent with some training in bookkeeping and accounting required. An associates degree or tax preparation training highly preferred.
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience in public accounting, tax accounting or similar, required.
- Proficient in QuickBooks, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical skills.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Maintain positive communication skills to best represent the company and clients.
- Demonstrate sound understanding of company’s procedures.
- Able to manage multiple responsibilities.
- Proficiency in knowledge of office management, use of computer, software packages and office machines.
Physical Demands
- Occasional lifting of fifteen to twenty (15-20) pounds and pushing of five to twenty (5-20) pounds.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- A medium to high level of manual dexterity is required.
- Normal overtime/extended work hours possible during tax seasons.
Work Environment
- Professional and deadline-oriented environment in an office setting.
- Interaction with staff, clients, and the public.
- The work is primarily onsite, however, there is some flexibility for remote work as the schedule allows.
- This role does have a seasonal component, with the busy season January through May, September, and October.
