Key Responsibilities
- Tax Preparation & Research: Prepare individual, corporate, partnership, trust, and other tax returns while conducting tax research and identifying potential tax planning opportunities.
- Client Communication: Communicate professionally with clients to gather information, provide updates, draft clear client-friendly correspondence, and ensure timely follow-up on outstanding items.
- Project & File Management: Maintain organized client files, detailed documentation, IRS correspondence, and project tracking while ensuring deadlines are consistently met.
- Critical Thinking & Quality Control: Review financial information, identify inconsistencies, ask thoughtful questions, and apply sound professional judgment before returns are finalized.
- Continuous Learning: Expand your knowledge of tax law, software, IRS procedures, trust taxation, and advisory services while contributing to the continued growth and efficiency of the Tax Department.
Qualifications
- At least three tax seasons preparing individual income tax returns.
- Experience preparing business tax returns (Forms 1120S, 1065, and 1120) or willingness to develop those skills.
- Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to research tax issues rather than making assumptions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and enjoyment of building professional relationships with clients and teammates.
- A desire to become a well-rounded tax professional and earn the Enrolled Agent (EA) credential or other advanced tax certifications.
