Key Responsibilities
- Interact regularly with Company accounting and financial reporting personnel to obtain a working knowledge of oil and gas transactions, from both accounting and operating perspectives.
- Analyze data to calculate tax impacts from both a tax provision and tax compliance perspective.
- Participate in the preparation of the quarterly tax provision including analysis of tax accounts and reserves.
- Prepare and communicate the components of the effective tax rate movements period over period.
- Stay current on new guidance issued by the FASB related to ASC 740.
- Prepare and communicate the components of the effective tax rate movements period over period.
- Assist in the preparation of the tax footnote within the quarterly Form 10-Q and annual Form 10-K, including the tax rate reconciliation and deferred inventory.
- Perform tax research as needed.
- Avoid tax accounting related inquiries from various stakeholders both inside and outside of the Company.
- Identify, calculate and track uncertain tax positions.
- Identify ways to improve and streamline processes.
- Participate in special projects as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business or Finance, with a preference in Accounting.
- CPA candidate.
- Minimum of 5 years income tax related and/or public accounting experience preferred.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. tax laws, with strong working knowledge of ASC 740 preferred.
- Strong knowledge of financial statement mechanics.
- Experience with U.S. Federal tax provisions and compliance.
- Experience preparing tax footnote and related disclosures for Form 10-K and Form 10-Q.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Willing to cross train within the tax department.
- Flexible to overtime.
- Strong computer skills (SAP, CorpTax, Excel, Word).
Desired Qualifications
- Master of Taxation or equivalent degree.
- CPA.
- Prior energy income tax experience.
