Responsibilities
- Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, and trusts
- Perform monthly, quarterly, and year-end accounting close processes, including account reconciliations and financial statement preparation
- Research complex tax issues and stay current on changes in tax law and regulations
- Assist with tax planning strategies to minimize client tax liabilities and ensure compliance
- Manage bookkeeping and general ledger maintenance for a portfolio of clients
- Respond to notices from taxing authorities and assist with audits as needed
- Communicate directly with clients to gather financial information, answer questions, and provide guidance
- Collaborate with senior staff and partners on client engagements and special projects
- Maintain organized, accurate, and confidential client files and documentation
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and enhance client service delivery
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience in public accounting, tax preparation, or a related role
- Proficiency with tax preparation software (e.g., UltraTax, ProSystem fx, Lacerte, or similar) and accounting platforms (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero)
- Strong understanding of GAAP and current federal/state tax regulations
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with small to mid-sized businesses across multiple industries
- Familiarity with multi-state tax filings
- Prior experience in a public accounting firm environment
