Task Force - Hotel Human Resources Director
About the Role
SSP is searching for experienced Task Force Human Resources Directors with a strong background in high-end and luxury hospitality environments. We are looking for adaptable, emotionally intelligent HR leaders who can step into complex hotel environments, build strong relationships, navigate sensitive employee and labor matters, and provide immediate leadership support during critical management gaps. This is a 100% Task Force travel position.
Join Strategic Solution Partners (SSP) as a Task Force Consultant and play a critical role in maintaining smooth hotel operations during management vacancies. This role is perfect for energized individuals who enjoy stepping into new environments, assessing immediate needs, and providing hands-on leadership support. Assignments include, but are not limited to, hotel openings, management transitions, and property re-positioning. Task Force Consultants will be on site for the duration of the assignment and will be afforded a trip home every two to three weeks.
Responsibilities
- Create and maintain a positive, respectful, and productive work environment that promotes employee engagement, retention, and high performance.
- Provide temporary HR leadership and support to ensure continuity and prevent operational disruptions during management vacancies.
- Lead through example, professionalism, strong personal values, sound judgment, and emotional intelligence.
- Know when to take a firm approach and when to demonstrate compassion and empathy when managing employee matters.
- Lead and support employee engagement strategies and initiatives, continually assessing opportunities to strengthen leadership practices and workforce engagement.
- Manage and resolve complex employee relations matters, including conducting timely, thorough, and objective investigations and recommending appropriate corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, collective bargaining agreements, and applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
- Support and oversee corporate compliance initiatives, including required programs, audits, reporting, and training.
- Coach and develop hotel leaders to effectively manage teams and foster a strong service and performance culture.
- Facilitate and support training throughout the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, performance management, leadership development, and service culture initiatives.
- Support labor relations activities, including contract administration, grievance resolution, investigations, labor-management meetings, and collective bargaining processes.
- Partner closely with hotel leadership and Corporate Human Resources to foster positive labor-management relationships while supporting operational goals and maintaining legal and contractual compliance.
- Support the hotel's efforts to deliver exceptional guest service through strong employee engagement and an effective workplace culture.
- Eager to offer assistance, “pitch in,” and be recognized as a trusted and collaborative partner among hotel leadership and staff.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 years of RECENT successful Human Resources Management experience within full-service, high-end, or luxury hotels.
- Must have union experience in a major U.S. city, such as NYC, Washington, DC, Philadelphia, Chicago, Los Angeles, Miami, or San Francisco.
- Strong experience with labor relations, collective bargaining agreements, grievance resolution, and union environments.
- Highly proficient in HRIS systems; Workday experience is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong emotional intelligence, judgment, and the ability to navigate sensitive and complex employee relations matters.
- Proven ability to conduct thorough and objective workplace investigations.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws, HR compliance, and labor regulations.
- Excellent leadership, communication, organization, time management, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to adapt quickly, assess new environments, and perform effectively under high expectations.
- Strong management skills and a proactive, hands-on approach to supporting hotel needs.
- Ability to meet deadlines and embrace ongoing change.
- Must be an ambitious self-starter, trusted advisor, and collaborative team player.
