Tarleton Today Instructor - Communications

About the role

The Tarleton Today Instructor is a 10-month non-tenure-track position with an additional 2-month summer appointment, based on Tarleton State's main campus in Stephenville, Texas.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the implementation of Tarleton Today through various systems and processes.
  • Manages Tarleton Today curriculum in Canvas, serving as the instructor of record.
  • Affirms student performance, provides timely feedback, and evaluates student learning outcomes to inform teaching practices and curriculum improvements.
  • Safeguards the academic integrity of the university course.
  • Mentors high school teachers.
  • Facilitates regular virtual conferences throughout the school year.
  • Meets with Tarleton Today staff to ensure fidelity of implementation.
  • Trains educators in the implementation of the Tarleton Today curriculum.
  • May need to travel for training events.

Requirements

  • Earned masters degree in the teaching discipline from an accredited university.
  • Experience teaching in High School or Dual Credit courses.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Knowledge and understanding of disciplinary subject matter at a level adequate for graduate-level instruction.
  • Ability to interact with students, staff, and faculty in a professional, collegial, and collaborative manner.

Qualifications

  • 5 or more years of teaching experience in public schools.
  • Experience using Canvas or a comparable learning management system.
  • Experience presenting professional development for educators.

Skills

  • Knowledge and understanding of disciplinary subject matter at a level adequate for graduate-level instruction.
  • Written and oral communication skills sufficient to conduct effective teaching and research activities.
  • Ability to interact with students, staff, and faculty in a professional, collegial, and collaborative manner.

Benefits

  • Compensation will be competitive and commensurate with experience.

Pay

  • Commensurate with experience.

Schedule

  • 10-month appointment: Full-time, August 1 to May 31.
  • Summer appointment: 50% effort, June 1 to July 31.
