About the role
The Tarleton Today Instructor is a 10-month non-tenure-track position with an additional 2-month summer appointment, based on Tarleton State's main campus in Stephenville, Texas.
Responsibilities
- Oversees the implementation of Tarleton Today through various systems and processes.
- Manages Tarleton Today curriculum in Canvas, serving as the instructor of record.
- Affirms student performance, provides timely feedback, and evaluates student learning outcomes to inform teaching practices and curriculum improvements.
- Safeguards the academic integrity of the university course.
- Mentors high school teachers.
- Facilitates regular virtual conferences throughout the school year.
- Meets with Tarleton Today staff to ensure fidelity of implementation.
- Trains educators in the implementation of the Tarleton Today curriculum.
- May need to travel for training events.
Requirements
- Earned masters degree in the teaching discipline from an accredited university.
- Experience teaching in High School or Dual Credit courses.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
- Knowledge and understanding of disciplinary subject matter at a level adequate for graduate-level instruction.
- Ability to interact with students, staff, and faculty in a professional, collegial, and collaborative manner.
Qualifications
- 5 or more years of teaching experience in public schools.
- Experience using Canvas or a comparable learning management system.
- Experience presenting professional development for educators.
Skills
- Knowledge and understanding of disciplinary subject matter at a level adequate for graduate-level instruction.
- Written and oral communication skills sufficient to conduct effective teaching and research activities.
- Ability to interact with students, staff, and faculty in a professional, collegial, and collaborative manner.

Pay
- Commensurate with experience.
Schedule
- 10-month appointment: Full-time, August 1 to May 31.
- Summer appointment: 50% effort, June 1 to July 31.
