About the role

Target Security Specialists play a crucial role in keeping guests and team members safe and secure. They are responsible for creating an easy, inspiring, and friendly guest experience, responding to security incidents, and preventing theft and shortage.

Responsibilities

Create an Easy, Inspiring and Friendly Guest Experience
Greet guests, smile, and initiate a warm, helpful interaction
Help guests find what they need and resolve issues to ensure a smooth shopping experience
Document security incidents in a timely manner
Respond to and appropriately document security incidents
Conduct merchandise theft recoveries and provide theft apprehension support
Perform merchandise receipt checks and recognize and communicate trends
Understand and appropriately use Target’s video surveillance system
Work in a safe manner at all times

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years of age or older
High school diploma or equivalent
Meet any state or local licensure and/or other legal requirements related to the position
Welcoming and helpful attitude toward all guests and other team members
Effective communication skills
Ability to communicate on multiple frequency devices and operate handheld scanners, and other technology equipment as directed
Manage workload and prioritize tasks independently
Capability to remain focused and composed in a fast-paced environment and accomplish multiple tasks within established timeframes

Qualifications

Must be able to climb up and down ladders
Must be able to apprehend subjects in accordance with company policy
Must be able to scan, handle, and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including frequently lifting or moving merchandise up to 40 pounds without additional assistance from others
Must be able to work a flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends and holidays)
Must be capable of working in and exposure to varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements while performing certain job duties including but not limited to Drive-Up, carryout, etc.
Must be able to remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift

Skills

Using intelligence-led tactics to keep team members and guests safe and secure
Crisis response, safety and crowd management
De-escalation and experience with physical security controls and culture
Understanding and appropriately using Target's video surveillance system
Demonstrating a culture of ethical conduct, safety and compliance
