About the role

The Target Optical Store Manager leads a high-performing team to deliver an outstanding guest experience while meeting all brand goals and commitments. This role ensures every team member is accountable, motivated, and developed to create a culture of simplicity, fun, and style.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure team members deliver an outstanding guest experience by modeling and coaching the "playground rules" and maintaining a guest-ready store environment.
  • Orchestrate floor flow and act as a caretaker for every guest and team member.
  • Develop clear action plans for team member growth and hold them accountable for commitments.
  • Provide timely, motivating, and developmental feedback.
  • Complete annual performance reviews and monthly coaching conversations.
  • Identify business opportunities and create action plans for improvement, understanding that guest experience drives results.
  • Build a professional relationship with the Target Optical doctor (where applicable) to ensure a collaborative and consultative eye exam experience.
  • Maintain a positive and productive relationship with the Target Host to grow the business.
  • Recruit high-caliber talent and maintain a bench of potential applicants.
  • Create schedules based on business trends, forecasts, and host traffic, adjusting as needed to meet business needs.
  • Complete payroll weekly and handle new hire/personnel change paperwork.
  • Manage store shrink percentage and conduct physical inventory twice per year.
  • Complete monthly Store Visit Form for review with regional leadership.
  • Ensure adherence to operating policies, merchandising standards, and marketing programs.
  • Ensure accurate completion of all sales transactions and utilization of sales strategies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in customer service and retail.
  • 3+ years of management or supervisory experience.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a drive for results.
  • Strong critical thinking and talent development skills.
  • Proven selling skills and ability to motivate and influence others.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Opticianary License or American Board of Opticians Certification.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $62,636.60 – $108,422.09. Employee pay is determined by factors such as geography, experience, qualifications, skills, and local minimum wage requirements. In addition, you may be offered a competitive bonus and/or commission plan.
