About the role
Accountable for activities relating to TVA’s involvement with industrial development and power supply matters for prospective new or expanding industrial plants to encourage them to locate in the TVA region. This role aims to make more efficient use of the TVA power system resources and attract new jobs and capital investment to the region.
Incumbent works directly with the General Manager of Marketing Development and Field Operations, leaders of eight Regional Industrial Development Associations, state economic development agencies, site selection consultants, and private companies to help attract new investment.
Responsibilities
- Recruit industry to the TVA region as an expert in a targeted industry sector; travel to targeted industry markets and interface with top-level industry leaders.
- Represent the TVA brand on a national and international level.
- Serve as the sole TVA point of contact for recruitment and retention business projects in the TVA region.
- Act as an external and internal broker of new investment, serving as a conduit for TVA services.
- Manage relationships within industry targets, including consultants and company executives.
- Research and compile market analysis on targeted industries to help create recruitment strategies.
- Deliver and communicate information regarding TVA power supply, pricing, and other services to potential and current direct serve customers and local power companies.
- Work directly with local, state, and federal economic development professionals to promote the TVA region, create job growth, increase investment, and boost load and revenue for TVA.
- Provide prompt and accurate technical assistance to industrial and headquarters prospects, their representatives, and regional, state, and local industrial development organizations. Assistance includes information related to:
- Site and building attributes
- Power and other utility capacities
- Incentives offered by TVA and allies
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, economic development, or a related field of study. A Master’s degree is preferred.
- Minimum of 6 years of economic development experience and/or sales and/or marketing experience.
- Knowledge of industrial power contracts, TVA’s business operations, power distributor systems, industrial plant power requirements, and economic factors involved in plant site selections.
- Ability to provide technical assistance related to site selection and Tennessee Valley attributes to prospective industry, industrial development organizations, and consultants.
- Must be willing and able to travel throughout the region.
- Candidate may be required to obtain and maintain a security clearance based on position access requirements and essential job functions.
