About the role
The Tank Mechanical Superintendent oversees job production, crew management, and safety, ensuring the successful completion of project scopes.
Responsibilities
- Keep the Project Manager updated daily on upcoming material needs, items completed, and the plan for the current day.
- Manage job hours accurately and ensure productivity.
- Communicate personnel needs to the Project Manager and Construction Manager.
- Explain task requirements to crew members.
- Plan tool, material, and equipment needs.
- Create detailed task lists and plans for the current and following weeks.
- Review production graphs and discuss with the Project Manager.
- Build relationships with customer contacts and inspectors.
- Determine and communicate which items are extras before work begins.
- Maintain a system to receive and track materials.
- Develop and train secondary leaders (foremen).
- Train new or inexperienced employees.
- Document disciplinary measures.
- Report incidents and near misses promptly.
- Lead quality JSA meetings and safety talks.
- Enforce company and client safety policies.
- Make suggestions for improving processes.
- Submit timecards and credit card receipts.
- Complete equipment logs and tool inventories.
- Respond to company communications.
- Prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Minimum six (6) years of experience in tank repair/construction field.
- Minimum six (6) months of experience in supervisory roles.
- Proficient in reading various types of drawings and schedules.
- Knowledgeable in welding procedures, failure types, and production rates.
- Technical understanding of civil construction, hydrostatic testing, shutdowns, and energy isolation.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Valid state or federal ID.
- Ability to pass a background check and obtain a TWIC card.
- Completion of FHG Foreman/Pusher Program preferred.
- Preferred but not required: OSHA 30 Hour, HAZWOPER 8, 24, or 40 Hour, Rigging and Signaling Competent Person Training, Excavation Competent Person Training, Basic Orientation Plus Training, Customer Specific Training, and Welder Qualification.
