Tank Cleaning Technicians

About the role

This position is based in Port Fourchon, Louisiana. PMI provides onsite living quarters with a full-service galley at its main facility. Work is performed at one of two PMI cleaning docks or at Waste Transfer Stations within the Port. A company-provided vehicle transports workers between facilities and work locations.

Responsibilities

  • Cleaning Oilfield Drilling-related Boat & Barge Cargo Tanks and Portable Containers
  • Confined Space Entry Cleaning
  • Low and High Pressure Washing with Waterblasting Units and Pressure Washers
  • Working in crews ranging from 2 to 16 employees
  • Actively participating in various work activities such as rigging up/down and utilizing equipment like air compressors, diaphragm pumps, suction & discharge hoses, etc.
  • Passing through small manway passages into confined spaces on marine vessels and tanks
  • Wearing personal protective equipment including steel-toe boots, protective coveralls, eye, ear, and face protection, full & half face respirators (cartridge and airline supplied), and other job-specific safety protection based on hazards.
  • Draining tanks and vessels, connecting hoses to water or steam lines, and spraying walls, roof, and bottom of tanks to flush residue such as oil, acid, grease, and sludge through tank openings.
  • Scraping and scrubbing walls to remove incrustations, scale, or other deposits and production/drilling fluids.
  • Removing chemical residues and other liquids from tank bottoms with squeegees or pump and suction hoses.
  • Affirming supervisor tests for gases & oxygen content of tanks and monitors throughout the job duration.
  • Adding specified detergents to tank surfaces to aid in cleaning.
  • Practicing waste minimization.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must have and maintain a valid driver's license and/or a US government issued ID.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC).
  • Pass all required training for the position.
  • Be available for refresher and other skill-based training during employment.
  • Have reliable transportation to ensure dependability in reporting to assigned work facility on schedule and on time.
