Tandem Axle Truck Driver

Full-time position in Tama County’s secondary-road maintenance team.

Responsibilities

• Perform skilled and semi-skilled work in construction, maintenance, and repair of county roads, including snow and ice removal, drainage improvement, roadway patching, culvert work, mowing, brush clearing, and flagging.
• Operate a wide range of equipment.
• Use phones and digital tools for task tracking and communication.
• Engage with the public professionally, demonstrating the county’s customer-service principles, mission, strategic plan, and values.

Requirements

• High-school diploma or GED.
• Valid Iowa Class A CDL with no air-brake, manual-transmission, or tractor-trailer restrictions.
• Pass pre-employment and random drug screening.

Pay

Starting wage: $27.77 per hour.

Schedule

Generally 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday (except during poor road conditions).
