About the Role

Through both training and direct field ministry experience, learn how to participate in effective Young Life ministry. This role focuses on spiritual development, leadership development, resource development, direct ministry, and ministry support.

Responsibilities

  • Spiritual Development
    • Develop a yearly personal growth plan fostering a vibrant spiritual life, including solitude, retreat, reflection, prayer, and commitment to understanding God’s Word.
    • Seek and maintain relationships and disciplines within an active church community.
    • Actively participate in the spiritual life of the Young Life community.
    • Lead teams and individuals in spiritual development.
  • Leadership Development
    • Meet regularly with volunteer leaders and area leadership.
    • Recruit and train new leaders to build a team reflecting the community.
    • Model excellence in contact work, club, Campaigners, and camping.
    • Attend and engage in area leadership as assigned.
  • Resource Development
    • Raise financial support as directed and maintain donor care practices.
    • Communicate ministry updates and progress to donor partners.
    • Assist with camp fundraisers and attend committee/adult functions as assigned.
  • Direct Ministry
    • Engage in all three levels of contact work.
    • Lead a team to conduct Young Life club and Campaigners/discipleship ministry.
    • Implement summer and school-season camping strategies.
    • Potentially serve on summer staff or at a Young Life property under area director guidance.
  • Ministry Support
    • Adhere to Young Life policies, maintaining professionalism in office hours, dress, conduct, and time management.
    • Set and review yearly ministry and personal goals.
    • Assist with office administration as needed.
    • Complete expense reports clearly and timely.
    • Perform other duties aligned with gifts, experience, and area needs.

Training

  • Missionwide Training: None required or recommended.
  • Regional Training: No standardized curriculum; regional training events may be required at the regional director’s discretion.
  • Area Training
    • Complete job assignments under supervision of the area director or mentor (adaptable to individual needs).
    • Receive individualized training to develop spiritual maturity and character.
    • Focus on learning and gaining competency in ministry skills (e.g., The 5 C’s).
    • Become familiar with area strategy and ministry health as assigned.
    • Learn personal fundraising principles, including familiarity with Basic Elements for Part-Time Staff.
    • Participate in Young Life discipleship experiences (e.g., summer staff, discipleship focus, adventure camping).

Requirements

  • Profess a belief in Jesus Christ as personal Savior and Lord and subscribe to Young Life’s Statement of Faith and policies.
  • Proven relational skills with both kids and adults.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Pursuing a college degree.

Pay

Full-time annual salary range: $24,550.00 – $29,275.00.

Young Life requires all employees to sign a Statement of Faith and adhere to its Christian mission and policies, including conduct reflecting biblical standards both during and outside working hours.
