About the role

Talent Bridge is partnering with Idaho National Laboratory (INL) to hire a Reactor Engineering Analyst specializing in neutronics, thermal-hydraulics, thermo-mechanical, or structures analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Supports, coordinates, and performs confirmatory calculations and startup planning in area of technical expertise to support development of facility and reactor specific safety basis supporting analyses.
  • Verifies compliance of advanced reactor designs according to industry codes such as ASME Boiler Pressure Vessel Code.
  • Decomposes project goals into defined and controlled design requirements.
  • Provides support to project and planning activities related to new reactor design and acceptance, talks to design and nuclear safety organizations, works with external reactor designers and DOE (ID and HQ), and contributes to organizations like structural analysis, criticality safety, radiation protection, etc.
  • Participates in the evaluation and resolution of complex engineering problems. Contributes to technical decisions based on sound engineering practices and in accordance with Laboratory policies and procedures.
  • Applies advanced nuclear engineering design principles, theories, and concepts. Uses best practices in design methodologies to develop and validate designs.
  • Documents designs to ensure conformance with requirements and standards. Establishes testing, inspection, and quality requirements.
  • Safeguards fabrication, construction, assembly, and procurement alignment with design specifications.
  • Defends analytical methods and results in reviews. Supports project/program interactions with sponsors, operations, and engineering organizations.
  • Develops and improves physics-based mathematical models and analysis methods. Prepares reports and peer-reviewed publications.
  • Participates in professional development activities.

Requirements

  • To qualify, you must have completed your bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or other related technical engineering degree within the last 12 months from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • For recent master’s graduates, you must have completed your Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or other related technical engineering degree or directly related engineering Master’s degree within the last 12 months from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • The position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.

Qualifications

  • Experience using computation codes for reactor analysis such as MCNP, SERPENT, SCALE, OpenMC, Abaqus, Ansys, or STAR-CCM+
  • Experience in nuclear fuels and materials, reactor physics, thermal hydraulics, core design, and analysis tools/methods

Pay and Schedule

$66,504 - $90,960 for recent bachelor’s graduates and $79,344 - $108,540 for recent master’s graduates. Compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.

Physical Requirements

  • Stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, bend, and work in an office and field/laboratory environment.
