About the role

This position provides recruitment support across both Together for Youth (TFY) and The House of the Good Shepherd (HGS) within the SCNY framework. The Talent Acquisition Specialist will follow the policies, benefits, and compensation structure of Together for Youth, as outlined in the TFY employee handbook.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of the end-to-end recruiting process for a diverse range of positions.
  • Partner with hiring managers to identify needs, source top talent by pre-screening resumes and job applications to evaluate relevant knowledge and experience, and conduct initial phone contact with qualified candidates.
  • Ensure timely communication with applicants and provide a positive candidate experience.
  • Ensure all documentation related to recruitment, screening, and hiring is accurately maintained in internal databases/systems.
  • Utilize a variety of internal and external channels to build a robust talent pool, including cold calling, database searches, networking, and leveraging digital and social media platforms.
  • Develop strategic partnerships and utilize creative solutions to attract high-quality candidates.
  • Make recommendations to the talent acquisition manager to enhance recruitment strategies and support retention initiatives.
  • Attend and actively participate in recruitment and networking events such as job fairs, career days, and community events to promote the organization and attract talent.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, as well as agency policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with the recruiting team and leadership to develop and implement innovative recruiting processes and strategies.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and best practices to remain competitive in talent acquisition.
  • Stay up to date with job boards, social networks, and recruitment platforms to identify emerging talent trends.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing Department to create and distribute engaging employment opportunities and announcements.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in human resources or related field required. Bachelor’s degree in human resources preferred.
  • 3 years of full cycle recruiting (including background check) experience required with a focus on human services being advantageous.
  • Familiarity with applicant tracking systems (ATS).
  • Preferred certifications include SHRM-CP/PHR or SHRM-SCP/SPHR, with SHRM's Talent Acquisition Specialty Credential being a plus.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends as required by the agency.
