About the role
We are currently looking for a Tagalog Teacher for one-to-one lessons with a beginner-level student in North Cambridge, MA (02140). The course is 23 total hours, with two-hour sessions scheduled twice per week. Preferred days are Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, with weekday sessions after 5 PM and weekend sessions flexible. The start date is September 15, 2026.
The student is ethnically Filipino and seeks elementary to intermediate proficiency in reading and conversation to comfortably navigate travel, family interactions, and daily activities in the Philippines. Cultural familiarity is also a goal if the course allows.
Responsibilities
- Deliver customized, one-to-one Tagalog lessons tailored to the student’s beginner level and goals.
- Focus on practical conversation skills for travel, family interactions, and daily activities.
- Incorporate cultural context where relevant to enhance learning.
Requirements
- Native Tagalog speaker and/or hold a relevant teaching qualification.
- Experience as a language teacher, translator, or interpreter.
- Valid work permit/visa (visa sponsorship is not available).
- Live within 20 miles of North Cambridge, MA (02140).
