About the role

The Tactical Communications Systems Engineer, Senior supports the engineering, integration, deployment, configuration, testing, and sustainment of tactical communications capabilities across the Indo-Pacific. This role applies communications engineering principles to tactical radio, satellite, line-of-sight, beyond-line-of-sight, and IP-based communications systems operating in fixed, mobile, expeditionary, and contested environments.

Responsibilities

• Engineer, configure, integrate, test, deploy, and sustain tactical communications systems supporting distributed logistics and mission operations.
• Support secure voice, data, radio, satellite, line-of-sight (LOS), beyond-line-of-sight (BLOS), and IP-based communications capabilities across fixed, mobile, and expeditionary sites.
• Analyze mission requirements, site conditions, coverage requirements, bandwidth demands, interoperability constraints, and communications dependencies to develop technically sound solutions.
• Develop communications architectures, system diagrams, equipment configurations, frequency and network interface requirements, implementation plans, and technical documentation.
• Configure and troubleshoot tactical radios, SATCOM terminals, routers, switches, antennas, modems, encryption-enabled devices, and associated communications infrastructure within authorized procedures.
• Support establishment and sustainment of communications at Joint Theater Distribution Centers (JTDCs), Intermediate Staging Bases (ISBs), command-and-control nodes, warehouses, airfields, ports, and forward operating locations.
• Perform communications system integration, functional testing, interoperability testing, coverage validation, and operational acceptance testing before fielding or mission use.
• Troubleshoot RF, SATCOM, network, interface, connectivity, latency, bandwidth, power, and equipment issues and coordinate corrective actions to restore mission capability.
• Support resilient communications planning for DDIL and contested environments, including alternate pathways, redundant communications, degraded-mode operations, and PACE considerations.

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of experience supporting communications engineering, tactical communications, RF communications, SATCOM, network communications, systems integration, or related Government or Department of Defense technical operations.
• Experience configuring, integrating, testing, troubleshooting, or sustaining tactical radio, SATCOM, LOS/BLOS, IP-based, or related communications systems in operational environments.
• Experience developing or maintaining communications diagrams, equipment configurations, test documentation, implementation procedures, or technical records.
• Experience troubleshooting communications, RF, network, interface, connectivity, or interoperability issues in fixed, mobile, expeditionary, or distributed environments.
• Working knowledge of tactical communications principles, RF fundamentals, networking, SATCOM, COMSEC, system integration, and DoD communications environments.
• Active TS/SCI security clearance required to start.

Qualifications

• Desired Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Communications Engineering, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Telecommunications, or a related technical field.
• Experience supporting Department of Defense, Joint, Combatant Command, Service Component, USSOCOM, SOCPAC, or other geographically dispersed Government communications operations.
• Experience with tactical radio families, SATCOM terminals, tactical networking equipment, routers/switches, antennas, RF test equipment, and secure communications devices.
• Knowledge of PACE communications planning, DDIL operations, spectrum management, DoD cybersecurity/RMF requirements, and configuration management practices.
• Professional certification such as CompTIA Security+, Network+, CCNA, ETA communications certification, or equivalent technical certification is preferred.
• Experience supporting OCONUS, expeditionary, contingency, or contested operating environments in the Indo-Pacific is highly desirable.
