About the Role

Under minimal supervision, conduct preventive maintenance, repair, installation, commissioning, and general servicing of HVAC and building automation systems. This role involves direct customer interaction to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and includes responsibilities such as system diagnostics, troubleshooting, and training customers on control systems operations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform start-up, checking, testing, system diagnostics, and commissioning for small to medium-sized new or retrofit projects, from system-level controllers to end devices.
  • Conduct preventive and predictive maintenance to ensure optimal system performance.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair control components, controls systems, and related mechanical, HVAC, and electrical issues.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot networking and integration for complex control systems.
  • Write, create, load, test, and commission programming software and graphics using various programming languages and software.
  • Execute assigned work efficiently and professionally, communicating with customers upon arrival and before leaving the work site.
  • Meet regularly with customers to address operating problems and recommend system enhancements, upgrades, or replacements.
  • Promote the sale of add-on work and provide technical recommendations for sales leads and proposals.
  • Train customers in control systems operations, including providing training certificates.
  • Complete and submit job documentation such as commissioning reports, punch lists, and marked-up controls submittals for as-built creation.
  • Coordinate with service managers, project managers, or subcontractors on projects as required.
  • Conduct self-study to improve and maintain technical proficiency in company product lines and complete required certifications.
  • Load and update software on network controllers, field controllers, computers, and servers.
  • Submit timely electronic documentation, including time sheets, expense reports, and on-site documentation.

Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of a variety of electronic or digital controls systems.
  • Vocational school graduate from a four-year program or an Associate’s degree in electronics, mechanical systems, computer technology, air conditioning, or a similar field. Degree may be offset by two years of relevant experience.
  • Three to five years of increasingly responsible experience in servicing electronic controls and HVAC equipment.
  • Ability to coordinate the work of others on multiple job sites.
  • Effective interpersonal skills to represent the company professionally to customers and external contacts.
  • Experience in writing and demonstrated understanding of computer programs and software applications related to the HVAC industry.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean record.

Pay

$40-$50 per hour, depending on experience.

All offers of employment are contingent upon successful completion of pre-employment screenings, including a background check, drug screening, and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) for positions where driving is an essential function. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States.
