Systems Engineer Sr Stf
About the Role
At Lockheed Martin Space, you will be a key member of the Systems Engineering, Integration and Test (SEIT) team supporting the design, development, production, integration, test, and delivery of an integrated space/ground Satellite Communications (SATCOM) system. This role focuses on interface definition, documentation, and integration of key intersegment boundaries to ensure successful end-to-end mission performance.
You will perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk analyses, and supportability assessments for total systems across all product lifecycle phases—from concept to disposal. Responsibilities include translating customer or product requirements into hardware and software specifications through functional analysis, trade studies, and interface definition.
Responsibilities
- Support the definition and documentation of intersegment Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and network design addressing both command and control (C2) and mission data flows.
- Coordinate system-level integration and validation activities to retire risk and meet program technical and schedule objectives.
- Collaborate with the Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) team to ensure system behaviors, data flows, and interface definitions are accurately reflected in the digital environment.
- Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition to translate customer requirements into specifications.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Engineering or a closely related technical discipline.
- Minimum of 8 years of engineering experience, including systems engineering and/or integration.
- Experience defining, coordinating, and/or verifying and validating complex interfaces.
- Experience across multiple program phases (concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance, disposal).
- Familiarity with common Systems Engineering tools (e.g., DOORS, CAMEO).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Current Top Secret (TS) clearance.
Desired Skills
- Master’s degree (or higher) in Engineering.
- Extensive systems integration experience for complex space/ground systems.
- Experience with Concepts of Operations (CONOPs) and thread-based engineering, including decomposition into requirements and interface documentation.
- Familiarity with network protocols and designing end-to-end network connectivity.
- Cyber and/or cryptographic unit experience.
- System architect experience.
- Satellite communications systems design, development, or delivery experience.
- Active Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) clearance.
- Proficiency in AI prompting as it applies to systems engineering.
Pay
Full-time salary range: $145,100 – $269,500. Salary is determined based on scope, responsibilities, candidate experience, education, skills, and market considerations.
Benefits
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance.
- Flexible work arrangements and schedules (e.g., 4x10 workweek).
- 401(k) match.
- Paid time off, holidays, and parental leave.
- Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
- Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs).
- Education assistance.
- Life insurance, short-term disability, and long-term disability.

For Washington state applicants only: Non-represented full-time employees accrue at least 10 hours of Paid Time Off (PTO) per month for incidental absences and receive at least 90 hours of holiday leave. Represented full-time employees accrue 6.67 hours of vacation per month, up to 52 hours of sick leave annually, and at least 96 hours of holiday leave. PTO, vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date.
