Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform System Engineering activities primarily focused on requirements management for Unmanned Aerial Systems.
- Conduct system engineering activities for one or more project efforts to include requirements development for design, development, and integration.
- Analyze stakeholder requirements to decompose and allocate requirements to lower levels of specifications (system/segment/subsystem/component).
- Ensure bi-directional traceability between requirements at all levels of specification.
- Elicit stakeholder needs, analyze and define requirements; to include allocation, decomposition, and bi-directional traceability.
- Support the development of test plans and test procedures.
- Manage the verification and validation of system requirements through different test phases.
- Determine system impacts based on functional analysis to a proposed change.
- Provide guidance on conflicting design/development requirements, difficult coordination requirements, and special requirements.
- Interface effectively with internal and external personnel using strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Participate in technical reviews, meetings, system-level integration events.
- Collaborate with MQ-9B leadership, customer and design teams to resolve system-level issues and maintain alignment with program needs.
- Employ standard System Engineering practices and methodology utilizing available tools and resources, including: Requirements management tools (e.g., DOORS, JAMA, Excel), Verification management tools (e.g., Integrity Lifecycle Manager), Data management tools (e.g., SharePoint, Teamcenter), Documentation tools (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite) and other similar tool alternatives.
- Manage Systems Engineering schedules and allocated budgets.
- Develop and present technical material for review and present reports at engineering meetings.
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence across the systems engineering organization.
Qualifications
- Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; four or more years of experience with a bachelors degree or two or more years of experience with a masters degree.
- May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
- Must have a complete understanding of engineering concepts, principles, codes, and theory; experience demonstrating a broad application of those concepts; and, expanding knowledge of principles, concepts, theory, and practices in related technical specialties.
- Must possess the ability to understand new concepts quickly; apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment; organize, schedule, and coordinate work phases; and, determine the appropriate approach at the task level or, with assistance, at the project level to provide solutions to a range of complex problems.
- Able to understand and apply engineering principles, theories, and practices.
- Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Able to perform complex tasks in one engineering area; and, lead a team of less experienced professional employees on semi-routine tasks.
- Able to work extended hours as required.
- A Professional Engineering License is desirable.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance is required.
