About the role

The Joint Precision Approach and Landing Systems (JPALS) group at Collins Aerospace is seeking a Systems Engineer to contribute to various components of precision approach and landing equipment. This role involves designing new equipment, performing hands-on testing, creating and analyzing mechanical drawings and schematics, debugging software, and assisting with technical planning and system integration.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop new precision approach and landing equipment
  • Perform hands-on testing in a lab environment
  • Create, analyze, and review mechanical drawings and schematics
  • Debug Real Time Operating System Software
  • Aid in analysis at all levels of the total system product including concept, design, fabrication, modeling, test, installation, operation, maintenance, and disposal
  • Manage configuration process, perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition studies
  • Coordinate with cross-functional team members to complete assignments and projects as defined and on schedule

Qualifications

  • Assist with decomposing customer specifications and system level requirements into sub-system and piece part requirements and generate verification criteria and plans for the requirements
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field
  • Strong experience in a lab environment and with troubleshooting products
  • Experience in MATLAB, Simulink, or other Model Based Systems Engineering toolset
  • Proficient knowledge using Microsoft Office applications
