Responsibilities
- Engage with customer/developer regarding requirements gathering and documentation.
- Manage sprint planning and retrospective.
- Facilitate internal customer and team meetings.
- Work with customer management to communicate status, clearly identify priorities and milestones, and ensure customer requirements are met.
- Work with DevOps team to ensure tasking is captured in JIRA and updated as appropriate.
- Contribute to the development of systems engineering documentation such as System Engineering Plans, Initial Capabilities Documents, Requirements Specifications, and Interface Control Documents.
- Manage system requirements and derived requirements to ensure the delivery of production systems compatible with defined system architecture(s).
- Assist with the development of system requirements, functional requirements, and allocation to individual hardware, software, facility, and personnel components.
- Coordinate the resolution of action items from Configuration Control Board (CCB) meetings, design reviews, program reviews, and test reviews requiring cross-discipline coordination.
- Participate in an Integrated Product Team to design new capabilities based on evaluation of development and operational considerations.
- Participate in interface definition, design, and changes to configuration between affected groups throughout the life cycle.
- Allocate real-time process budgets and error budgets to systems and subsystem components.
- Derive understanding of stakeholder needs and functions essential to system effectiveness from system requirements.
- Derive lower-level requirements from higher-level allocated requirements, ensuring completeness, correctness, uniqueness, unambiguity, realizability, and verifiability.
- Generate alternative system concepts, physical architectures, and design solutions.
- Participate in establishing and gaining approval of system or component definitions under development (requirements, designs, interfaces, test procedures).
- Define methods, processes, and evaluation criteria for verifying systems, subsystems, and work products against requirements in a written plan.
- Develop system design solutions that satisfy system requirements and fulfill functional analysis.
- Develop derived requirements for Information Assurance Services (Confidentiality, Integrity, Non-repudiation, Availability) and security mechanisms.
- Review and provide input to program and contract work breakdown structure (WBS), work packages, and the integrated master plan (IMP).
Requirements
- Fourteen (14) years of experience as a Systems Engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
- Bachelor’s degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or a related discipline from an accredited college or university. Five (5) years of additional SE experience may substitute for a bachelor’s degree.
- Experience using Confluence and JIRA.
Desired Skills
- Understanding of or experience with Kubernetes, Rancher, and Helm.
- Understanding of or experience with Elasticsearch and Kibana dashboards.
- Understanding of or experience with Grafana dashboards.
Pay
The salary range for this position is $78,000 to $250,000 per year, determined based on the candidate's work location, role, skill set, and level of expertise.
