About the role
Leonardo DRS Land Systems is seeking multiple Summer Systems Engineer Interns for our Bridgeton, MO facility. These interns will support the systems engineering (SE) team to meet technical performance requirements on complex system development programs, executing an interdisciplinary process to ensure customer and stakeholder needs are satisfied in a high-quality, trustworthy, cost-efficient, and schedule-compliant manner. The internship provides meaningful professional hands-on experience to students with proven academic performance and leadership potential.
Responsibilities
- Work under the direction of SE managers, SE technical director, and lead systems engineers on various systems engineering activities
- Use Matlab and/or Simulink software in the performance of assignments
- Work closely with and assist engineers in the conduct of various engineering assignments
- Complete assigned tasks on time
- Gather and assemble data for engineers
- Help perform research in a particular field
- Conduct design analysis and/or calculations under the supervision of engineers
- Assist engineers with appropriate design details
- Provide technical knowledge and assistance to other engineers and support personnel
- Support, communicate, reinforce, and defend the mission, values, and culture of the organization
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED, and currently a Junior or above in a Bachelor’s program in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or equivalent
- Excellent analytical and communication skills, written and oral
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Basic knowledge and familiarity with the use of Matlab and/or Simulink (desired)
- Coursework in calculus I/II, linear algebra, complex variables, probability & statistics, and differential equations (desired)
- Proficient use of Microsoft Office products (desired)
Pay
The salary range for this position is $41,011.00/year to $53,315.00/year for the state of Illinois. Several factors can influence the pay scale, including federal contract labor categories, geographic location, business considerations, scope and responsibilities of the position, and internal equity. Other factors include the candidate’s qualifications such as prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education/training, and certifications.
